Pier 1 is looking for a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. This role will partner with our Chief Customer Officer and develop, execute and communicate comprehensive financial budgets, forecasts, and analytics that drive the company’s strategic, operational, and financial goals bringing a holistic picture for the customer facing side of the business. Additional focus will be on developing financial acumen of the FP&A team as well as business partners across the organization, and driving process and performance improvements throughout the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the company’s business model, especially Revenue, Margin, Logistics, Marketing, and Store Operations and the complex links and interactions therein. Ensure alignment between planning and allocation merchandise sales plans, marketing plans, in-store and eCommerce sales metrics (traffic, ticket, conversion) in planning and forecasting activities. Provide detailed analytic support of current operations and strategic opportunities and partner with executive leadership in developing, implementing, and driving to conclusion the initiatives that support such operations.
Utilize data to create modeling/analyses that will inform company decision making process. Develop and track Key Performance Indicators to measure business success. Perform monthly and ad hoc analysis using existing tools to pro-actively identify emerging trends and opportunities to increase sales/margin, reduce costs, increase return on Marketing spend, and improve the customer experience.
Act as the primary financial partner for all customer-facing department executives and teams. Be an engaged, “hands-on” participant in ongoing operations, meetings, and decisions by providing sound financial data and insight on a consistent basis.
Direct, mentor, and develop a team of managers and analysts in the FP&A organization.
Drive performance and process improvement initiatives on the FP&A team and in the broader organization with a focus on increased efficiency, reduced redundancy, and increased quality of work products.
Education & Experience
MBA preferred with 5+ years of FP&A leadership experience
Retail experience required – experience partnering with a merchandising and/or marketing team preferred
Proven ability to effectively influence and communicate with an executive leadership team
Experience managing and developing a team
