The Accounting Manager will manage the financial affairs of the organization and prepare financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. Responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures
  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization
  • Responsible for supervising and evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department
  • Maintains the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Coordinate all audit activity
  • Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations
  • Manages the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances
  • Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of company’s financial status
  • Assist company in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate
  • Prepares Ad Hoc reports as needed


Requirements:

  • 5 years of total experience in Finance and/ or Accounting
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands on knowledge of DCAA audit practices and procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of government laws and regulations
  • Previous knowledge and experience contracting with governmental agencies
  • Expert understanding of accounting, regulatory and compliance
  • Analytical skills; effective leadership, project management and teamwork skills
  • The ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail and process oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations
  • Proficient knowledge of PC applications (MS Office Suite); Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Able to read, write and speak English


Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in discipline related to the primary responsibilities, or its equivalent
